Germany is rated as one of the safest destinations in the world with many grand churches, castles, museums, tourist drives, historic homes & buildings.  Most Universities are free & every city houses many theaters, museums, libraries, orchestras, & opera groups. Art & music has been well supported for centuries with modern music as well. Pork & beer are most consumed by Germans & football is the most popular sport. Generally winters are mild & summers warm.

Capital of Germany & largest city, 3.5m people, a third of city is parks, lakes, forests, gardens & rivers. Economy mainly based on high-tech industries & service sectors, many creative industries, the hub of air & rail network, high quality of living, Summers are warm & winters cold, many important historical buildings, 781 hotels, over 9m tourists/ year . 1.5m vehicles registered,
rail, subways, buses, trams & ferries make up transport, –and all can be accessed with the same ticket.Two commercial airports, Berlin Tegel TXL & Schonefeld SXF. About 500,000 bicycle riders use bike lanes every day. World class universities & research institutions, approx 420 art galleries, 153 museums, extremely diverse nightlife, clubs have no fixed closing time on weekends. Festivals include– Karneval der Kulturen, Christpher Street Day, Beliner Festspiele plus many more.
Over 50 theatres, three major opera houses, seven symphony orchestras. Food is of a high standard & very varied, from vegan to falafels to the popular currywurst. Many sports but football most popular.

Visa

Australians can come on a tourist visa (actually visa waiver) to Germany and do an internship. The ZAV permit (work authorization) is sufficient.
